We flew from Rochester to Philly, stayed over one night, then flew to Athens. A nine-hour flight which arrived around 9:30 AM.
Our total agenda looked like this:
Got a car and started the drive to Kardamyli.
I was very impressed by the infrastructure around Athens - the highways, the light rail - all very clean and modern. Little sign of the recent economic distress.
Very uncertain as to how to find our way; but we figured it all out and drove on the Autoroute from Athens to Corinth, Tripoli to Kalamata. Kalamata provided some consternation. The Google Maps stuff really didn't work. At all. So we gently found our way through the city and onto the mountain road into the Mani.
This was a *real* mountain road.
